Goals of Schoolyard Discovery

• To cultivate appreciation and understanding of the environment while encouraging environmentally responsible behavior in students
• To foster awareness of the natural world found in the urban environment by creating meaningful opportunities for character development and improved self-confidence through cross-age teaching experiences
• To provide a meaningful outdoor experience by enhancing students’ education through outdoor and inquiry-based teaching methods while addressing state curricula and national science standards
