Irvine Nature Center

Irvine Nature Center’s Urban Education Program, Schoolyard Discovery, uses high school student volunteers to teach elementary school students about ecology in and around their schoolyard. 

The mission of Schoolyard Discovery is to inspire environmental stewardship and to develop leadership skills in Baltimore City students, while improving wildlife habitat on school grounds.

Through Schoolyard Discovery, students have the opportunity to learn about nature in their schoolyard, teach others about what they have learned, and apply this knowledge to planning and implementing schoolyard habitat improvements.
